Here’s a heart healthy, quick-n-easy (and we do mean EASY) recipe that is bound to please. The beauty of this recipe, besides its ease, is its VERSATILITY. This can be whipped up in batches for snacks throughout the week, a holiday gathering, or with unexpected guests, and it can flavored to the season. The roasted nuts are tasty and packed with omega-3’s to give your heart a balance of energy durability.

In a bowl, mix 2 cups raw, unsalted nuts. We like walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans. Other good options include pepitas (pumpkin seeds), cashews, or brazil nuts.

Next, coat with 1/4 oil. Grapeseed is ideal for its neutral flavor and resistance to denature under heat. Olive oil can be used as a healthy option, but you’ll want to roast at 325F or under. Another good option would be coconut oil, softened beforehand. Then, mix with equal part (1/4 cup) agave for some sweetness.

Now.. the fun part! Pick a seasoning of choice, and be creative! I like a sweet and savory, salty barbecue blend. A few of my favorite blends from Spiceology are Sriracha Candied Bacon and Smoky Honey Habenero. Alternatively, if you have a sweet tooth, try simply adding some cinnamon with a touch of maple and vanilla extract.

Bake for about 10-15 minutes at 325F, tossing every 5 minutes until slightly browned, or AIR FRY at 350F for about 5-10 minutes.
